Think Global / Act Local is more than a bumper sticker. Over the third weekend in May, United Methodists around the world are getting out in the streets to be the hands and feet of Christ while inviting non-church members to team up and make a difference during Change the World Weekend. A project of ReThink Church (www.rethinkchurch.org), this weekend is a way to engage community members with congregations in practical missions work.
Each day of Change the World Weekend, we will roll up our sleeves and invite our neighbors to join us in making a difference in fighting homelessness and hunger in our community through one (or more) of the following mission opportunities we engage in at Wesley United Methodist Church:
FRIDAY 5/18
Feed the Homeless at the Vista Soup Kitchen “Connections” (102 S. Naches Ave) Volunteers needed from 2-6pm and for clean up afterwards. Meet at the church at 1:30pm to carpool together or join us there whenever you are available!
SATURDAY 5/19
Feed our children through the Three Squares Program (at Wesley we call it the Backpack Ministry) at Northwest Harvest. Volunteers meet at the church at 8:30am.
SUNDAY 5/20
Make sandwiches for Sunrise Outreach Center’s daily food delivery program. Volunteers meet in the church kitchen during the learning hour 10:30-11:30am.
