We become what we behold. What we spend time looking at and what we invest time thinking about shapes who we are and who we become. That’s why daily, spiritually formative, practices are so important for persons who want to follow Jesus’ way.
You are invited to join with other United Methodists from the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference as we prepare ourselves for a day of worship and conferencing; a Special Called Session of our Annual Conference. Visit www.pnwumc.org to learn more.
With the help of 35 writers and a handful of organizers, we bring to you this daily devotional. Five scripture passages – one for each week – have been selected to help us reflect on how God has been active in our lives and what good work God is currently calling us to as individuals, as congregations and as a conference.
Each passage has been broken down into seven portions, one for each day of the week. Each day, a different writer offers his or her brief reflection on the day’s scripture passage, poses a question for us to ponder, and offers a prayer for the day.
Read the scripture and the reflection. Think about the question. Consider recording your own thoughts in a journal. Pray.
We hope that praying these five scriptures will shape, in significant ways, how we conference. But we also pray that this collective study will plant and nurture within us a growing sense of our missional purpose as the people of God. We aim to become an Annual Conference where every church is a mission outpost, reaching out to its mission field, and every United Methodist understands their calling to be a missionary of the Gospel. Thanks for joining us for the journey!
