Our Core Values
Over 70 Wesley folks spent time together in retreat in May, 2009, to identify our core values, listed here in the order of priority established at that gathering. Our Strategic Planning Committee describes these values in this way.
Christ-centered Spiritual Growth
- God values the spiritual journey of each person.
- We journey together using the Bible as our guide.
- We create Christ-centered communities of disciples who support one another through experiences, mutual sharing, and witness.
Worship
- Worship is an encounter with the God we meet in the Bible, who is a God of grace.
- Worship forms us as a community in Christ that feels the reality of God in all aspects of life.
- Worship prepares us to live and share our faith.
Stewardship
- We offer our gifts, talents, and resources in gratitude for God’s creating.
- We care for the earth and its communities of life.
- We support God’s work through our participation in the local and world-wide church.
Love and Compassion
- God is love and calls us to love one another.
- We follow the example of Christ when we show compassion.
- We respect one another and our neighbors in the world, and we courageously reach out to them to provide care and support.
Social Justice
- God values all life and calls us to do the same.
- We reach out to open doors for those who can’t.
- We strive to create harmonious relationships to feed the hungry, clothe the needy, and empower the powerless.
